In order to successfully enroll in a phlebotomy school, students are required to have GED or equivalent high school diploma.

How Long Does It Take To Get Phlebotomy Certificate?

The duration for a certificate course depends on the kind of certificate course you choose. Certificate courses consist of two parts: practical and theoretical.   2. Advanced 102 – The duration of the course is around 20 hours as well. The requirement for enrollment in this course is the same. Students are taught about the cardiovascular system, infection control and are given instructions to avoid pre-analytical mistakes. The law and ethics of phlebotomy are also taught to the students.
  3. Clinical 103 – This is a 40-hour course. The requirements to enroll for this course remain the same. Students are trained in mastering the equipments used in phlebotomy procedures and are also directed towards mastering the art of drawing and collecting blood. Students enrolling in this course have the benefit of on the job experience with an instructor’s guidance.

The certification exam is the most popular choice for phlebotomy students. The exam can be attempted once the students successfully complete their training. To qualify for the ACA accreditation, you do not need to pass an exam but you do need to showcase proof that you have the necessary experience, study hours and education to qualify for it.

There are various certificate courses available and the quality and cost depend entirely on the course and the state and school the course is being offered at.
